The last time I dealt with them, I called Simon in to talk to the family. He was brilliant with them and worked around them to get all the arrangements sorted. In this particular case, I was the executor of the will and we also had to liaise with an insurance company regarding a funeral policy. Simon sat with me and walked me through all the documents, together we filled out the paperwork and he faxed them away for me. He didn’t have to do any of that at all, but he was only too pleased to go out of his way to help me.

I really felt like Simon and Donna cared, they got to know us, our family and all about Mum and Dad. I’ve never met people more passionate about what they do, that show so much empathy and care towards others - Donna even offered her services as a counsellor to our family. And even now when we see them in the street, we always get a hug and questions about how people in the family are - they don’t forget a single detail and that’s really special.

​But above all it’s the personal touches that really stand out. Nothing was too much trouble – in our family we party, and we party to the end, they let us have Mum and Dad there to the end so we could say goodbye in our own way, which really meant a lot to us. What stood out most overall was their true professionalism. You would think given the personal relationship we had, it might be a little different or a bit harder for them to do that, but their approach was one of compassion and real professionalism. It’s hard to explain, but the whole experience was made easier because of Simon and Donna - they are both loving and caring by nature, and just such good people.

They were both so understanding and comforting throughout the whole process and it kinda felt like you were dealing with friends or family. If you asked for something a little out of the ordinary or not exactly ‘by the book’, Simon and Donna would just help you and make it happen. They are very accommodating like that.

Donna was excellent when it came to the counselling. She always made me feel comfortable, like I was just having a coffee and a chat with a friend. I could talk or cry or whatever, it didn’t matter. She gave me strategies to cope without making me feel like I was on a psychologist’s couch. Because Donna comes from a family of funeral directors, she has such an understanding about grief and funerals, plus her medical training and knowledge meant that she could help answer some of the questions we had.

I’d definitely recommend Simon and Donna. They are just such a lovely couple, they make you feel comfortable and are so understanding at a time when you need it the most.
