Cremation
Did you know...
Over 60% of families in New Zealand now choose cremation as their preferred method,
as reported by the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ).
At Waihi Funeral Services we aim to provide you with the type of service and farewell you want for your loved one. So if that means you want to have a direct cremation without having a full funeral, we are happy to do this for you.
Many people are curious about cremation, and there are numerous myths surrounding the process of cremating a body. One misconception is that the body is removed from the casket prior to cremation. This is not the case. The entire casket containing the body is placed in the cremator and reduced to ashes under controlled conditions and very high temperatures. Some people also fear that more than one casket will be cremated at a time and the ashes returned may not be those of your loved one. There is only room in the cremator for one casket. There are very strict guidelines and processes which are in place to ensure the correct ashes are returned to the correct family.
Cremation Jewellery
At Waihi Funeral Services, we stock a range of stunning cremation jewellery for ashes.
How it works:
A small portion of the ashes is put into these specially designed pendants, the special compartment is then sealed. You can wear the pendant on a necklace or bracelet to keep your loved one close.
W also have a beautiful range of urns you can choose from for safe keeping of your loved one’s ashes.
